Biography
Bob Ross
"The Corporate Comic"
Humor for Fun & Profit
Bob’s presentation entitled “If I’m in Charge Here, Why is Everybody Laughing?” includes ideas and techniques for creating a workplace environment conducive to excellence, commitment and productivity. It is his key topic and is an ideal blend of valuable information delivered on the wings of humor. You’ll be entertained and pleasantly surprised at how you can put the magical power of humor to work for you in your personal and professional life.
For 20 years Bob designed and managed urban revitalization programs for cities across the nation. He was once a judo instructor and applies the principles of this martial art in using humor to deal with stressful situations and business problems. The San Diego Union calls Bob "The Corporate Comic" because of his popularity in the business world. His clients include American Express, AT&T, General Electric and many others from the Fortune 500, along with many of the country’s top professional associations. Bob’s programs are known for their high content combined with a comic delivery. He is author of Laugh, Lead & Profit: Building Productive Workplaces with Humor. His latest book is Funny Business: The Art of Using Humor Constructively. Bob’s ideas and techniques for using humor to deal with various personal and professional situations has been featured on TV and written about in magazines and newspapers throughout the country. The Humorous Spoof Bob is also well known for his humorous hoaxes. He is a master of the put-on and his spoofs are the ultimate in hilarity. Working closely with the meeting planner, Bob customizes his humorous hoax, designing it to tweak the sensibilities of the audience. It’s a Candid Camera type presentation — moving your attendees from polite attention, to puzzlement, to rolling laughter. Bob masquerades as someone your audience can identify with. His roles have run the gamut from COO of a new cruise line (for the cruise line industry) to an inventor whose latest creation put his audience (the copper and brass industry) out of business. Chances are he’s been a top government official from an agency that regulates your business or profession. If the government does not regulate or oversee your industry, he may well show up as a representative of congress to outline plans for such a move — with devastating results for your members! Following Operation Desert Storm, Bob toured the country in the bogus role of chief advisor to General Norman Schwarzkopf, in an outrageous put-on about how he masterminded that victory. (In Chicago, he was marched to the platform accompanied by an official color guard.) He has left a trail of comic pandemonium across the country and has even been a top official from the Justice Department in a room full of FBI agents. Your only problem will be how you’re going to top it next year! This program is normally dovetailed with either Bob’s presentation about using humor to relieve stress or his talk on the role of humor in business. Clients use the same words to describe it: creative, hilarious, memorable, fun. Keep this one a secret. It works better when only one or two people are in on the joke. You’ll be entertained and pleasantly surprised at how you can put the magical power of humor to work for you in your personal and professional life.
